Shave Biopsy

A shave biopsy/removal may be performed to help diagnose a rash or skin growth or to remove a skin growth. This is done by numbing the skin and using a razor blade to remove a piece of skin. Bleeding is usually very minimal and most often controlled with application of a liquid that stops bleeding followed by a bandage. A shave biopsy/removal typically takes no more than a couple of minutes to complete.
